 Description: Samarium can be made into various forms: Samarium foil, Samarium block and Samarium powder. Samarium is a silver gray metal with medium hardness, which is easy to oxidize in air. Samarium coexists with other rare earth elements in monazite sand, and also exists in bastnaesite. Samarium is stable in dry air, and oxide film is formed on the surface of Samarium in humid air. Metal Samarium can be prepared by reduction-distillation method using metal lanthanum to reduce Samarium oxide, because Samarium has a high vapor pressure and the vapor pressure of the reducing agent lanthanum is low. The metal Samarium produced in the reaction can be removed from the reactor by volatilization, which can promote the reaction to complete.
